About Me

Hello!

My name is Janet and I am a freelance broadcast journalist based in Washington, DC. I specialize in covering breaking news and human interest stories in both the newsroom and the field.

At the moment, I am contracted with two major companies: the Associated Press and the BBC’s online magazine as a freelance video journalist and fixing producer.

Up until recently, I worked as a TV Journalist with the Associated Press in London, England. My time was divided between general newsroom duties and running up and down the UK chasing stories.

Throughout my time at AP, I was also involved in temporary freelance contracts with other companies. Some of those included: freelancing with Katie Couric and the CBS team during the 2011 Royal Wedding and researching/producing a UN-funded documentary on agriculture with former BBC presenter, Steve Bradshaw.

Prior to dedicating my life to news, I studied full-time at the University of London. My bachelors is in TV Journalism and my masters is in Global Politics.

When I don’t have my head buried in storyboards, you can find me taking full advantage of the Shenandoah countryside, overdosing on interactive documentaries (www.nfb.ca is a personal fave) and volunteering with the Red Cross’ social media team.
